Abdul Haque P. M.

Artist, Master of Fine Arts - Sculpture

Abdul Haque completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA – Sculpture) form University of Calicut in 2007 and Master of Fine Arts (MFA – Sculpture) from University of Hyderabad in 2009. Abdul is fascinated by objects and appreciates design where form follows function. He likes to deconstruct objects and transform their history and function into something absurd and anomalous through his assemblages. Abdul uses humour and symbolic puns to validate the existence of these absurd objects and to pose serious questions. His art is a combination of his fascination with objects, empathy for humour, comprehension of metaphors, and isolation of the absurd. Although his work may seem to demand a unique interpretation, it tends to become both playful and anomalous at once. He currently teaches at DGCOA, where he shares his passion for art and design with his students. Abdul's teaching style is reflective of his own artistic practice and he encourages students to think outside the box and experiment with different techniques and materials.
