DG COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE
ABOUT
Devaki Amma's Guruvayurappan College of Architecture (DG College of Architecture) was established in 2010 by the Devaki Amma Memorial Trust, making it the first standalone self-financing college in Kerala that focuses exclusively on architectural education. The college is approved by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi and affiliated with the University of Calicut, offering B. Arch and M. Arch (Landscape Architecture) courses. The campus is located in Chelembra, Malappuram District, Kerala, just 2.5 km from Calicut University, 15 km from Calicut International Airport, and approximately 18 km from Calicut City.

ACADEMIC MASTER PLAN
Our college, DG College of Architecture, is dedicated to provide a comprehensive and rigorous education in architecture that integrates the principles of the tropical traditions of the region. We are inspired by the legacies of master architects Laurie Baker and Geoffrey Bawa, who were pioneers in critical regionalist architecture in the tropics.

Our academic master plan outlines five goals to guide our teaching, research, and service missions over the next five years. These goals are:

-
To be the premier institution in Kerala for sustainability-focused architectural education. We aim to achieve this goal by elevating the profile of the college, building and strengthening core areas of focus within the college, and establishing a stronger role for the college in the community around.
-
To build a vibrant interdisciplinary environment. Our strategies for achieving this goal include enhancing the interdisciplinary culture of undergraduate education, developing collaborative initiatives with other institutions at the graduate level, and creating opportunities for industry partnerships.
-
To create a culture of research and design excellence that drives innovation in professional practice. We plan to achieve this goal by increasing faculty and student participation in collaborative research, expanding partnerships with research centres, labs and schools across India, and identifying new research areas in which we can develop a competitive advantage.
-
To cultivate college diversity, equity, and inclusion. We will achieve this goal by ensuring the college has an inclusive, welcoming and supportive climate and culture, by ensuring the college community represents diverse backgrounds, perspectives, interests and talents, and by providing a roadmap to excellence for women and underrepresented minority faculty, students and staff.
-
To improve college facilities, processes, and support functions. We will achieve this goal by improving the quality of the physical space throughout the college, strengthening administrative and collaborative support, and ensuring effective support resources for our students, including targeted career services support, stronger relationships with professional communities, and increased scholarship support for undergraduate students.

In summary, our academic master plan focuses on sustainability, interdisciplinary collaboration, research and design excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and improving college facilities, processes, and support functions. We are committed to providing our students with the knowledge and approaches needed to become leaders of interdisciplinary teams that can address the grand challenges of energy, climate change, major demographic shifts, and the digital revolution.
